It’s truly the end of an era. The last surviving cast member of Are You Being Served? as passed. I watched AYBS? liked mad as a kid. I can still remember the first time I saw it, waiting for Doctor Who to come on. There were these funny British people in a board room looking at possible vacation destinations, and even though I didn’t get half the jokes, I still loved the show. I mean, let’s be honest… the writing wasn’t always the best. But the performances by the cast (especially the original group) were SO perfect that you didn’t have to get the references or innuendo to laugh. I certainly didn’t as a kid! I have all the episodes on DVD and I still break them out from time to time and they STILL make me laugh. So, RIP ol’ Big Ears himself, Nicholas Smith.
