“The Weight of This Combination”
Wow, can it already be season 3? It feels like only yesterday I was seeing the vague, intriguing promos for the new series on BBC America during the Doctor Who commercial breaks. But, here we are!
The opening scene… fantastic. It was so much fun, getting a peak into Helena’s mind. I went into this with a lot of ambivalence about the concept of Project Castor. The promo photos didn’t really help. But, it was great to dive into the season premiere (how about that “Previously On…” recap… did new viewers get whiplash?) and see how they were using the Castor clones. It’s definitely different than Sarah and her sisters. I like the different take on what it means to be a clone for them. At least from what we’ve seen so far and how I think they’ll be working in the story. Okay, about to get more spoilery…
I hope Marion being shipped off isn’t permanent. I was hoping we’d see more of Michelle Forbes. I love Mrs. S. as a character. I love how complicated she is. The choices she makes (even the hard ones) always make sense. Even if we (or Sarah) don’t like them.
The Allison/Donnie stuff is reliably entertaining. I hope Marcie’s fate isn’t quite as… permanent as some of Allison’s other enemies. 🙂 The Delphine/Cosima scene was heartbreaking. They both sold the hell out of that scene.

Cosima keeping secrets… I don’t know… this never seems like a good idea. Especially not from the other sistrahs. I have a special love for the times when Sarah or one of her sisters pretend to be a different sister. Because it really drives home how awesome Tatiana is. The subtle details… even the way Sarah-as-Rachel walks… it’s good stuff. Then Allison as Sarah! Haaaa! Creepy hands Ferdinand! Gah! Can we get a pencil in his eye, stat? The belt would not have been a bad substitute.

Dephine… wow. Not a new side to her. She’s always had a bit of steel and a bit of a ruthless side. But that was still a surprise.
All in all? That was freaking great!
