Read Time:2 Minute, 4 Second

Nonplayer #1 – This came out originally in 2011, and after some struggles, its creator continued with it and issue 2 is coming soon. So, they reprinted #1. The art is gorgeous. The story? Well, it’s intriguing so far. I don’t want to say much to give anything away, but the central twist could be fun. But like most modern comics it’s hard to tell at this point. Definitely getting issue 2.

No Mercy #1 – I thought the premise of this was interesting and a different sort of book than I’d normally try. This will, apparently, be much more “real world” than some comics can be. Basically, it’s about a bunch of normal kids who get stuck in a very inhospitable environment. The characters are set up well. I’m hoping there’s a little more depth added to some of them as the story progresses. I think there will be.

The Surface #1 – The cover design and colors are so beautiful and intriguing. The art style is not always my cup of tea, but that’s not the end of the world. The story feels a bit on-the-nose when discussing the (very big) concepts the story is playing with. It might have been nice to have been less hit over the head with some of it. But I’ve already read issue 2 and it gets better. And weirder. I will admit to not totally getting what’s going on some of the time. I think this will be a series to re-read after a few issues are out.

Divinity #1 – An intriguing, high-concept sci-fi book. It’s got a gorgeous cover, and I liked the interior art well. It’s another book that I feel like I’ll have a better grip on by issue 2, but I like the feel of this a lot already.

Chrononauts #1 – I wasn’t totally sold on buying this. The premise (two bromantic bros are the first time travelers ever) didn’t really pique my interest all that much. But I flipped through it in the comic shop and the art was gorgeous. I can’t say the story totally grabbed me. I sort of wish the two main guys were just a couple. Now THAT might have been more interesting. But I’m probably biased. 😀 But, I liked it enough to see where it goes. Could be a fun little series.
